At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review the newer classes of diabetes medications
- Review the cardiovascular safety outcome data for new diabetes medications
- Discuss with patients the side effects of new medications on various organ systems, including kidneys and eyes
- Evaluate and select the appropriate agent for a patient with cardiovascular risk
- Assess the cultural and linguistic factors impacting our unique patient demographics and how clinical decisions should include these factors
