Stroke is the leading cause of disability in the United States, drastically disrupting the lives of stroke survivors and their caretakers. Unfortunately, because of tight therapeutic time requirements, the majority of stroke patients are not eligible for the current medicines or interventions. Current stroke recovery therapies remain limited. This lecture will address the gap between existing therapies and current research topics that may improve recovery for stroke patients.

Desired Outcomes:

  • Incorporate investigative studies into improving stroke recovery with current stroke rehabilitation practices.
  • Integrate recent biotechnology and stem cell advances into current knowledgebase which may affect standard clinical practice for stroke patients in he future.
