Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with significant morbidity, mortality, and health care costs. The purpose of this talk is to review the clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment options for CKD. This talk will also cover topics pertinent to patients with chronic illness that are cared
for in the rehabilitation setting.

Desired Outcomes:

  • Recognize the symptoms of chronic kidney disease.
  • Identify strategies and tools including the latest diagnostic tests and treatments.
  • Deploy strategies for better prevention of chronic kidney disease and preservation of kidney function.
  • Discuss indications and patient eligibility for kidney transplantation.
