Presented By: Lawrence Tim Goodnough, MD

Reversal of anticoagulation in patients is a medical emergency, as anticoagulation is associated with hematoma growth, neurologic

including warfarin and the novel oral anticoagulants will be discussed.

Desired Outcomes:

  • Understand the mechanism of action for commonly used anticoagulants: Warfarin and the Novel Oral Anticoagulants (NOACs).
  • Understand how to manage patients requiring urgent reversal of anticoagulants.
  • Incorporate best practices on how to reverse anticoagulants acutely.
