DESCRIPTION:Sonia Partap\, MD\, MS\, FAAP\, Clinical Associate Professor\, Child Neurology & Neuro-Oncology\, Stanford\nSpeaker for this CME Activity is Sonia Partap\, MD\, MS\, FAAP\,  who will present 4 case scenarios on Pediatric Neurologic Emergencies: \n Pediatric Neurologic Emergencies \nCase 1: 9 mo girl \n\nwith increasing OFC from 50th to > 95%ile over 6 months.\ndevelopment on target\nPresents to ED with vomiting and eye crossing\n\nCase 2: 15 year old boy \n\nwith 2 days of fever\, cough\, photophobia\, and headache\n\nCase 3: 2 day old baby \n\npresents to new onset lip smacking and apnea.\nThe baby is afebrile.\n\nCase 4: 22 mo boy \n\npresent with acute onset of unsteady walking\nNo change in mental status\nNo nausea or vomiting\nSpeech and eye movements normal\nLurches from side to side when walking and falls frequently\nUnsteady when sitting\n\nDesired Outcomes: \n\nRecognize signs of increased intracranial pressure\nDifferentiate peripheral weakness from central weakness\nIdentify risk factors for childhood stroke\nReview emergent treatments for status epilepticus for children and infants\n\nGeared to Emergency Department Physicians\, Trauma Physicians\, OR Physicians\, Anesthesiologists\, Radiologists\, and ancillary clinical staff. \nCME Activity Flyer (PDF)
